Grades have now been posted for the “Active Class Participation” part of your course grade. Here’s the formula I used for determining your participation grade – there were two “free” absences (one week’s worth of classes). Then, they counted….so, based on your number of absences during the semester, the following table shows your grade for in-class participation for the class:

From the syllabus:
ACTIVE CLASS PARTICIPATION
Woody Allen once famously said that "eighty percent of success is showing up!" Simply put, if you are here, you will do better in the class. Thus, 10% (or 100 out of the possible 1000 points) of your course grade will be derived based on your active in-class participation. A day-by-day calendar of course activities will be provided to you on Moodle.
First and foremost, you must be here to earn your participation grade. You should also be an active participant in class discussions and attentive and respectful at all times (especially to your fellow students in discussions and other interactions). Also, while I’m a techie myself, please try and keep “tech disruptions” to a minimum. While I strongly encourage you to bring a tablet and/or laptop to class, both to use the many e-resources available to you and to work with the class and/or small groups as we explore strategic management concepts through the strategy session briefings, please be tech-smart and considerate to your fellow classmates in how you use your technology. Finally, be on time as much as possible (better to go get a cup of coffee than to come in 20-25 minutes late….).
To succeed in the class - and to take away the most possible from it - I cannot overstate the importance of your regular and attentive class attendance. I hope that you will be an active participant in the activities planned for you each day in the course and to earn the most possible points in this important area.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
For those that took advantage of this grade, I congratulate you for your diligence. For those however that failed to take advantage of this opportunity for earning your grade (and learning more by being in-class), please be advised that this was spelled-out to you at the beginning of class (both in-class and in the course syllabus as shown above) and repeatedly discussed throughout the semester. This semester, this part of your grade was made even easier by the professor’s federal jury service, which knocked out a number of class days.
If you have any questions or concerns over your participation grade, please see me.
