TrendWatching: Helpful Info to Help You Pick a Topic

What makes for a good topic for your TrendWatching Project? Well, there's a simple guideline: Your topic just needs to be a subject in which you have some degree of personal interest. It needs to be a "big picture" type trend in the macroenvironment - in technology, in the economy, in demographics, in society, in the political/legal environment, etc. - that impacts multiple industries and markets. For suggested topics, please see the list below of a sampling of some of the past project topics successfully done by students:
  • 3D Printing
  • Virtual Reality Technology
  • Drone Technology
  • Social Media in the Workplace
  • Cloud Computing
  • Cybersecurity
  • Electric Vehicles
  • Autonomous Vehicles
  • Robotics
  • Gamification
  • The Tiny House Movement
  • The Tattoo Culture
  • The Growth of the Sandwich Generation
  • Online Shopping

By no means is this an exhaustive list. Also, new trends are emerging everyday. So, new, different, sorta "on the edge" topics are encouraged! Here are some resources to help you think of a trend for your own research:
