Spring 2015 - Management 464 - Important Info Regarding Book Selection and Scheduling for the Executive Book Summary and Analysis Project

Please review the two articles below with links to the top business books that you have to choose from for the Executive Book Summary and Analysis Project. The lists in these articles are alphabetical, based on the last name of the author (or lead author in the case of multiple authors). Part 1 includes book from authors with last names from A-L, with Part 2 having books in the M-Z fange. And as I stated in the opening to the first list, “You will find titles spanning topics from corporate and career strategies to tech and social media to finance and investing to marketing and branding. You should be able to find a title that speaks to where you are in your career today – and where you want to be going.”

So, I hope you take some time to search through these two lists, as with the numbers of “best books” of the past year on them, there should truly be a book that will cater to your personal interests. As I stated in class, all have direct links to their Amazon pages, so please do take advantage of this resource on the book to note the reviews of the book and to perhaps go ahead and order it for yourself.

Now, do bear in mind that you have approximately two weeks to make your book selection. Here, from the course calendar, are the key dates for this project:

EXECUTIVE BOOK SUMMARY AND ANALYSIS DATES

• BOOK SELECTION DEADLINE: Sunday, February 8th, by 11:59 p.m. (POST UNIQUE TITLE WITH REQUIRED INFO)
• FIRST PRESENTATION DAY: Thursday, April 2nd
• LAST POSSIBLE PRESENTATION DAY: Thursday, May 7th

As a reminder on the project guidelines, each student must pick a unique title, and books are first come, first served by posting your selection (with the four specified items above) as a comment to in response to this post before 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, February 11th.  And if you should fail to meet the book selection deadline, you will have 10% deducted from your TOTAL GRADE on the project.

When making your book selection comment, please provide the following info (and feel free to "cut and paste" this list as the basis for your post):

Your scheduled date for your presentation will be determined in class on Thursday, January 29th, when we will cover in detail what you will need to do for your written report and for your oral presentation on your chosen book. The updates in regards to books that have been selected will be made every day or two. Please double-check this list as it will help you to determine if the book title you are interested in has been claimed previously by a classmate. Also, you can scan (or search by keyword) through the comments below this post to see if there has been a previous comment by a fellow student claiming your book title in your respective section (11:00 or 2:00). As a reminder again however, books are first come, first served in each section, so earlier attention to this task will give you the widest selection of books from which to choose the one that you will read for this project.
