Week 5 Discussion Forum - July 2nd - July 8th

Students,

Please use this as your discussion forum for your activities for Week 5 of the the My Big Summer Adventure Abroad (At Home) Project. Seen a great international TV show or movie? Tried a recipe from abroad that was actually good? Found a local international cuisine restaurant that you would give 5 stars to on Yelp or TripAdvisor? Use this forum to tell your classmates what you're doing - what you liked (and even what you didn't!).

Have Fun and Do Get Involved!

  1. The Tour de France is happening now till July 23rd every day. (Not sure of the channel cause I channel surf) There are 21 stages and stage 4 was today with a dramatic crash at the end. The crash left a rider disqualified and another had to drop out from injuries.

  2. My Fiancé made me watch a Swedish movie called "A Man Called Ove" which I didn't really like because to my it was just really sappy but the movie is all in Swedish so it can be counted as a movie in a different language. If you have Amazon Prime Movie, it is on there to watch.

  3. Go online and stream an old anime movie called Spirited away. You can view it in Japanese or do the English version. The movie is extremely good and like me, some of you may have watched it when you were kids. Enjoy.

  4. I cooked a Shrimp and Mediterranean Quinoa Salad last night for my girlfriend and I. The recipe was super simple, and the dish ended up being very delicious. See link below.

  5. This week I watched House Hunters international: Chiang Rai Bred. It was a good episode about an American family that is relocating to Thailand so their adopted children can learn more about their home country. I enjoy house hunters especially the international episodes.

  6. Netflix documentary called "Sour Grapes". It is about a man who makes cheap wine and bottles it into expensive bottles. He is from Indonesia and I found it very interesting to watch

  7. I caught an episode of House Hunters International where a couple was relocating from Canada to Costa Rica. Gotta say, it did seem rather superficial, but it was interesting to watch. The couple just didn't seem very genuine at all. Their real estate agent was seemed to be an ex-pat as well, which was good because some of the couple's comments were rather insulting on what I think was basically a typical house in Costa Rica.
